Takoma Park Historic District

We updated our clients' 19th Century Victorian kitchen with the objectives of increasing storage, updating finishes, upgrading and increasing the number of appliances and adding a seating area for guests to keep the chef company. This was done with the home's history and sustainability at the forefront of the redesign. We had the pleasure of working on this project, which was eligible for a Takoma Park Electrification and Energy Efficiency Grant. This is the historic neighborhood's effort to help the city reach its climate and sustainability goals by reducing costs associated with home improvement projects that are beneficial to the environment.

• Added new cabinets to replace areas that became nonfunctional for the client's growing cooking and baking needs. 
• Replaced and upgraded their appliances; swapped from gas to electric, added a double oven to include a steam oven sous vide and an induction cooktop. 
• Improved storage added a pantry in the kitchen with easier access to the prep areas. 
• Increased usable countertop space with modern quartz stone.
• Added area for seating/ bar.
• Added cabinet with pullout doggie bowls.
• Added a farmhouse sink with disposal countertop plug.
• Painted the existing kitchen cabinets.
• Updated the kitchen backsplash to tie in the new painted upper and lower cabinets.
• Added under cabinet LED dimmable lighting.
• Replaced existing cork flooring.
